Post date: Aug 26, 2016 4:32:21 PM

Welcome to two newly appointed City Council Persons Jason Dailey and Mike Parsons. Council appointed Mr. Dailey in February and Mr. Parsons in July as members of the City Council at regularly scheduled City Council Meetings. Mr. Dailey is a long time resident and a member of the family owned Little Crane Cafe/J&G Grocery/Dailey Mini-storage businesses. He has been a member of the Park Board in recent years and is very familiar with the history of Vader and it's citizens and brings a fresh perspective to the Council. Mr. Parsons has lived in Vader for nearly 2 years now and has been a member and the Chairman of the Vader Park Board over the last year. His energy and enthusiasm as well as his efforts to help clean up derelict properties in the South end of Vader made him a desirable candidate for the position. The Vader City Council and Mayor would like to thank all those who volunteered to fill the vacated positions and hope these individuals will still have the desire to serve in the future.

How long will Councilor Dailey & Parsons Serve in the appointed positions? Council Position #2 and #4 that were vacated by Councilors Elect Fenison and Costello both have a 4 year term that runs from January 2016 thru December 2019. However, due to the resignation of the elected Councilors (Mr. Fenison and Mrs. Costello), the appointed Councilors (Mr. Dailey and Mr. Parsons) will serve in the positions for the remaining portion of 2016 and all of 2017, thru the end of the next regular election cycle which will be November of 2017. The 2017 election cycle will allow any qualified residents to run for office to fill the last 2 years of the Council Positions #2 and #4 term (2018-2019). Mr. Dailey and Mr. Parsons may run for these positions as well as any other qualified resident. When the election results are finalized at the end of November 2017, the newly elected candidates will immediately be sworn in and fill the positions for the remaining 2 years of the terms. At the end of the 2 year terms (2019) the positions will be back on schedule and will both be up for a new 4 year term. This means that in 2017 there will be two 2 year Council Position, three 4 year Council Positions up for grabs. (Three 4 year term Council Positions #1, #3 and #5 are regularly scheduled to be up for election in the 2017 election cycle.)
