JOB POSTING for City Clerk/Treasurer
The City of Vader is seeking a full-time (40 hours/week) Clerk/Treasurer.
Job Description: The position requires exceptional customer service and problem-solving skills. Duties include but are not limited to various administrative support to the Mayor. Supervise all city staff under direction of the Mayor. Attend regular evening meetings for the City Council and other city organizations as needed. Manage city financial systems including budgeting and grant/loan funding. This position demands accuracy, organization skills, competency in math and calculations, and strong customer relations skills.
Experience: Prior experience as a city clerk/treasurer or other closely related municipal government officer highly recommended and strongly requested. Must have mastery of and experience with cashiering, customer service and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to compose meeting minutes and official correspondence materials in a competent and professional manner. Grant writing and administration is requested.
Education: College degree strongly recommended. Current training and experience through Washington Financial Officers Association, Municipal Research Services Center, Washington State Auditor’s Office and other state agency training programs are a plus.
Hours: 40 hours a week with 3 evening meetings a month
Benefits: Position will accrue paid sick leave, holiday pay and paid vacation. The position will be eligible for retirement contributions to a Deferred Compensation Account after one year of employment. This position is eligible for medical/dental/vision coverage.
Compensation: $53,331.20 - $71,448.00 per year, depending on experience.

Function
Under supervision of the Mayor, performs basic duties in the areas of administrative, clerical, accounting, utility accounts and other related work.
Examples of Duties
Administrative
Administrative support to the Mayor and City Council. Prepare documents for and attend City Council and Parks Board meetings. Preparation and recording of City meeting and minutes. Manage City staff under the direction of the Mayor. Contract Management. Document management including filing, archival and records retention. Accept Public Records Request and complete retrieval of documents and maintain city document filing using Public Records Retention schedule. Manage computer software acquisition and maintenance. Oversees licensing activities (Animal Control, Temporary Business Licenses). Look up and process DOR Business Licenses. Oversee the counting and documentation of City Inventory. Monitor training requirements and maintain completion documents for all city personnel including Council and Committee members.
Utilities
Oversee utility billing activities of the Deputy Clerk and supervise utility staff. Receipt payments from utility customers. Oversee account management including billing, receipting and collection actions. Project Management. Maintain asset management records.
Financial
Create and maintain the Annual City Budget. Financial reporting and tax filings. Payroll. Accounts Payable/Receivable. Receipting, depositing, banking and reconciliation of all accounts. Grant administration and application.
Clerical
Oversee customer assistance at front window, answer incoming phone lines. Typing, filing, record keeping, copying, sorting, scanning, researching, and communications. Operate a variety of office equipment, including cash register, computer, calculator, copier/scanner/fax machine.
Human Resources
Personnel documentation and hiring support. Supervise safety committee. Employment regulations and personnel handbook. Medical benefits enrollment. Retirement administration.
Planning & Permitting:
Oversee Building/Planning permit administration. Oversee Code Enforcement.
Other
Oversee City’s Safety Policies including monthly meetings. Perform other clerical and administrative tasks as assigned by the Mayor. Code Enforcement research and implementation.
