Part-Time Wastewater Treatment Operator Level 1 

            The City of Vader, Washington is hiring for the ongoing operations and maintenance of it’s Wastewater Treatment Facility. The facility is a 3 cell lagoon, activated sludge treatment system that provides service to most of Vader’s 640 residents. It is anticipated that the job will take approximately 15 hours per week which includes all aspects required to meet NPDES permit testing requirements 5 days per week. Compensation & Hours

Part-time: 15 hours per week. Additional hours may be approved for projects outside of normal operation & maintenance.

Hourly:  $19-$21 DOE Includes holiday, vacation & sick pay and DCP benefits after 1 year of employment.

Job Requirements

Must have reasonable experience operating and maintaining wastewater treatment facilities. Verifiable certification as a Class I sewer operator. Employment history and references will be verified.

Job Description/Duties

Perform a variety of duties including but not limited to: 

     Monitor the performance of all equipment, meters and charts in the wastewater treatment plant; records statistical data concerning plant operations; maintains, operates, reports needed repairs or replacement of equipment as necessary; charts lab test results for trend analysis and maintains accurate records of analyses and test results; evaluates data and produce reports as required.

     Operates, maintains and repairs malfunctions at the wastewater treatment plant; reports needed repairs of meters, pumps, filters and other controls and equipment.

     Collects samples and performs any and all testing required by the current NPDES Permit and in accordance with local, state and Federal requirements;

     Performs quality control tests on lab equipment and lab analyses of lab equipment; completes needed lab accreditation applications and reporting in accordance with local, state and Federal requirements;

     Communicates with City staff, mayor and Department of Ecology personnel to maximizing permit compliance;

     Calibrates, modifies and maintains instrumentation and control equipment including recorders, flow meters and other waste monitoring equipment;

     Operates and maintains sewage pump stations; cleans wet wells and operates pumps and valves to control and adjust flow and treatment process.

     Works together with city staff to create/maintain a maintenance plan for upkeep of the collection system (maintenance plan to be executed by city staff).
