The Park Board will be holding a Special Park Board meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 31st, 2017 to discuss planning efforts for their fundraiser on August 5, 2017.

Planning Committee Meeting/Training

The newly called Vader Planning Committee will be holding it's first public meeting on Monday, July 24th at 2:00 p.m. The meeting, held at City Hall, is open to the public and will include the swearing in of all five new committee members as well as a specialized Local Planning Training. This training is offered by two representatives from the Washington State Department of Commerce, Anne Fritzel and Paul Johnson. As will all city board meetings, this gathering will be open to the public so if you are interested in understanding a Planning Committee's roles and responsibilities you are welcome to attend. The training should last anywhere from one and a half to two hours.

SEPA Notice: Determination of Non-significance

The City of Vader has issued a Determination of Non-significance (DNS) regarding proposed Ordinance 2017-03, a Subdivision Ordinance that establishes the rules for the orderly subdivision of lands within the City of Vader, including plats and short-subdivisions. The Ordinance also establishes rules for Boundary Line Adjustments. The Ordinance is drafted to comply with all applicable standards and requirements in Title 58.17 RCW, the State of Washington’s land subdivision statute.

Council Vacancy - Volunteer Needed

Sadly, Council member Ruth Crear resigned her position early in February this year. She serves the community in several capacities and we thank her for all her efforts as a stellar City Councillor. Her resignation leaves Council Position #5 open and in need of filling. The remaining members of Council have 90 days to appoint a resident to fill the open seat. The appointee would fill the position until the results of the November 2017 election is certified. At that point the position will be filled by the winner of the election for the remaining 2 years of the term. 
Any member of the public who is a property owner in the Vader City limits for at least one year, and who is a registered voter is eligible to fill the position. Let a member of the City Council, the Mayor or the City Clerk/Treasurer know if you are interested in filling the position. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn the processes of city government and to give back to your community.

Request for Engineering Services for TIB Street Project

Request for Engineering Services

The City of Vader, Washington is requesting Statements of Qualifications from consulting engineering firms to provide the City with engineering services for the following project in 2017 and 2018:

Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) funded street improvement project on A Street.

Consulting work may include but is not limited to:

Development of plans and specifications, planning, right of way appraisal, construction inspection and construction management.

A description of the project (TIB Application) and an example of the Consultant Services Contracts can be found attached below or by request via email to: vadercity@centurylink.net.

The City published this request in accordance with the requirements of RCW 39.80. Contracts with selected firms will be negotiated in accordance with RCW 39.80.

The City of Vader reserves the right to select different consulting firms for projects based on experience and qualifications.

Please submit a Statement of Qualifications to: Jill Nielson, Clerk/Treasurer, City of Vader, PO Box 189, 317 8th Street, Vader, WA 98593.

Qualifications must be received no later than 1:00 p.m. on February 21, 2017.

Park Board Meeting - January 30th, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.

Due to recent illnesses the Park Board meeting in January has been scheduled, cancelled and rescheduled at least two different times. This is the third attempt to hold the meeting so hopefully all will be well and the meeting will occur as planned. The Agenda items planned for discussion at the meeting are listed below.

Community Meeting Scheduled - January 19th, 2017

The City of Vader will be hosting a Public Meeting for all residents of Vader and the surrounding areas regarding vital neighborhood emergency preparedness. Daucie Willson, a local area resident, has prepared a presentation to introduce a program called Map Your Neighborhood, on January 19th, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Vader City Hall building.

Map Your Neighborhood is based on the concept that most neighborhoods will be on their own for the first hours following a disaster and maybe for as long as three days or more. This is an attempt to help each neighborhood to gather important information and skills to respond to your own and other's needs during those first critical hours.

Who is the meeting for?

Anyone who has living at or located on their property or a nearby neighbors' property any of the following:

  • Those who are elderly.
  • Those with a disability.
  • Those which might have children who are home alone.
  • Those who have propane or other natural gas tanks and lines. 

Come join us for light refreshments and lots of information about what to do during and how to prepare for a large scale emergency or disaster. Please contact City Hall with any questions, 360-295-3222.
